THE first concept motel in Shenzhen opened Oct. 18 by State Highway 107 in Bao’an District, giving business travelers and romance-seeking couples a new way to spend the night.

    Kemotel, with more than 130 parking spaces, has 81 rooms with 19 decoration styles. On the first three floors there are 59 garages customers can drive into that lead directly to the elevator that will take them to their rooms.

    Each room, located on floors five to nine, boasts a designer whirlpool and marble bathtub where you can indulge with luxury brand shampoo and cleanser and enjoy the romantic mood lighting.

    Cost-efficient business suites, 22 in total and ranging from 31 to 57 square meters, provide a haven where travelers can take a hot shower or lay in a bathtub to wind down before having a good night’s sleep on the velvety white sheets.

    There are 18 spa suites, each 80 square meters, that customers can soak in that feature green plants fed by natural sunshine that falls through glass ceilings.

    Thirty-eight concept suites, each 120 square meters, are themed, based on different landscapes around the world. The interior decor is inspired by mysterious Asia, romantic Europe, miraculous America or vast Australia. After enjoying the bubbling whirlpool in the shape of a high-heeled shoe, customers can sing karaoke to their hearts’ content and watch their favorite movies.

    There are two party suites, 260 square meters and 370 square meters, where people can host a private poolside party. With minimalist pure white decor, the rooms are fitted with high-end karaoke and video equipment that can be operated by a smartphone.

    The motel also has a 600-square-meter presidential suite equipped with independent areas for meetings, dining, resting and entertaining. In addition to a triangular piano, the suite boasts an electric swimming pool and a barbecue grill platform where private chefs can fix an exquisite meal.

    Unlike generic motels that only cater simple food, Kemotel offers a variety of choices from dim sum, simple Chinese food and English tea to a Western buffet.

    For the convenience of travelers, Kemotel is only a 20-minute drive from shopping malls and Waterlands Resort. The motel is only 8km away from the airport and it takes around 40 minutes to reach Futian’s CBD by car. It’s also easy to reach Hong Kong, Macao, Zhuhai, Zhongshan and Guangzhou by ferry.(Debra Li)
