THE 27th Miss Model of the World Finals wrapped up at Window of the World in Shenzhen on Oct. 31 with Awa Geremaya Sandrine Sanoko from Cote d’Ivoire winning the championship.

    Sune Botes from South Africa and Šárka Mohorková from the Czech Republic won second and third place, respectively. The three winners were crowned by Suha Alpayli, founder of the Miss Model of the World and chairperson of the Miss Model of the World International Organization.

    The beauty pageant this year was themed around the Silk Road economic belt and the Chinese Dream. Of the over 60 contestants who made it to the finals, a majority were from the countries and regions that dot the original Silk Road, which ran through Asia, Africa and Europe.

    All of the contestants hold college or advanced degrees.

    Aside from the first three places, the finals also awarded 10 prizes in other categories such as continent Miss Model, traditional costume Miss Model, swimsuit Miss Model and most talented Miss Model.

    During the past 27 years, over 40,000 models from more than 100 countries and regions have participated in the Miss Model of the World competition. This year the finals were organized by Miss Model of the World International Organization and local groups such as Shenzhen Press Group, Shenzhen Media Group and Shenzhen Window of the World Co.(Zhang Xiaoyi)
