The Academy, an international school located in Shekou, Nanshan District, held an open day on Saturday. Attended by over 40 students and parents, the open day enabled students to participate in demo classes with their parents that were explained by the school’s teachers.

The day started with welcome drinks and snacks, giving parents a quick opportunity to check out the school and speak with the school’s faculty and other parents. Students started the day by participating in team building or icebreaker activities so that they could get acquainted with each other and relax.

After that, students were separated into their class groups to begin the day’s lessons. Lessons such as art and design, science and biology, citizenship, math and English were given to four groups of students who were divided by age.

The art and design classes were a big hit with a lot of the students, which consisted of drawing a Picasso-style portrait and using futurism to design clothing.

After the demo classes, the students and parents were invited to Shenzhen University for an hour-long golf class with a coach from the Professional Golfers’ Association of America (PGA). After a short period of study, most students made improvements from their first attempts.

“The golf class offered a good opportunity for me to have a good time with my children. The Academy has done a great job,” said a father surnamed Wang.
