Primary students celebrate Christmas with English shows
    2015-12-30  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

For students at Lequn Primary School in Yantian District, Christmas was not only a festival to welcome Santa Claus and gifts but also an English festival as the school put on a show in English on December 25.

It was the second time the school had held an English Culture Festival. All of the English performances were done by young students at the school. Parents were also invited to attend the show.

The Christmas shows began with a performance of “Forest Battle,” which won rounds of applause from the audience. Kids from the lower grades presented the skits “The Little Lion Finds the Food” and “Mummy, Mummy, Where Are You” while older students performed the classics “Little Red Riding Hood” and “Journey to the West.”

The expat teacher at the school dressed up as Santa Claus and distributed gifts to the students, adding more Christmas cheer to the celebration.

By organizing such a Christmas extravaganza, the school hoped the students would have the opportunity to present their talents and that the students would be encouraged to learn Western culture and English. According to the school, putting on the shows also taught the students to work in teams and to cooperate. (Zhang Qian)
