INTERNET users in China are posing with “#D-Strong” signs on the Great Wall and in cities around the country to help an 8-year-old U.S. cancer sufferer realize his dream of being famous.

    Dorian Murray, of Westerly, Rhode Island, in the United States, has always dreamed of being famous in China and seeing the Great Wall, which he called “the bridge” that people walk on.

    Dorian has been fighting rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare pediatric cancer, since he was 4. In early January, doctors discovered that the cancer cells had spread to his spinal cord and brain, so the family decided to stop treatments.

    After Dorian’s father posted his son’s wishes on Facebook, many Chinese Internet users went to the Great Wall carrying signs with the hashtag “#D-Strong.”

    After hearing the news, Xu Jin in Beijing immediately drove about 70 kilometers to the Great Wall to pose for a photo for Dorian and bought a model of the Great Wall and a commemorative medal bearing the boy’s name.

    Xu said, “I just did what a Chinese could do to help Dorian. I hope we Chinese are the first to pose on the Great Wall. Let’s pray for Dorian.”

    Many other people have also used Chinese social media platform Sina Weibo to reach out to those planning to visit the Great Wall, asking them to take #D-STRONG pictures.(SD-Agencies)
