“The Witches of Pendle” is a story about a girl named Jennet and her family. About 400 years ago, people in England thought a person who did bad things to people was a witch. Everybody in the country hated witches. Jennet’s family members were all witches so she hated them, too. In fact, she even told the town judge her family members were all witches. The judge then hanged her entire family.

    Losing her family was a tragic event, but Jennet eventually became happy. She lived in the Read House, where she could eat delicious food and wear beautiful shoes. She also had someone to take care of her. However, time passed quickly, and eventually, she had to go to prison. She stayed in Lancaster Castle with her dead family. “They are watching me and waiting for me. I can never be free of them,” she said at one moment and then fell into despair.

    This is a really frightening story. It is full of darkness and danger and sometimes you are too scared to know the end. How can it have a good ending after so many bad things have happened? However, when you come to the end, you will see everything is gone, and a new day will come. In this book, I only see the despair and gloom. From this book, I understand all of the bad things that have been done by human beings. I felt so worried after reading this book.
