Zhang Qian zhqcindy@163.com About 10 universities collaboratively built with the Shenzhen government and universities from other countries are expected to settle in Longgang District in eastern Shenzhen. Private schools in the east are also providing international programs for students. A spokesperson from the Longgang District Education Bureau, Du Shaohuai, announced at an education promotion meeting on Saturday that the district is planning to build three to five international schools in the next five years. “Opening international schools in Longgang District is an essential part of the city’s ‘going east strategy’ and the construction of three to five international schools has already been included in the district government’s work report,” said Du. During the meeting, Du said that two areas in Longgang would be developed into international education zones with one near the Universiade Stadium and the other in Bantian near Huawei’s headquarters. Eight schools promoted themselves and international programs to the parents who attended the meeting. Most of the schools provide foreign language studies other than English and international curriculum and exams including A-Level exams, along with teaching to the AP and IB systems. |
