Zhang Qian zhqcindy@163.com DOZENS of schools in Bao’an District brought talented students and teachers to the three-day Bao’an Industry Development Expo to showcase their skills in making handcrafts, paintings, Chinese calligraphy and more. As one of the 15 exhibition areas at the expo, the education section mainly displayed Bao’an’s rich educational resources. In total, 29 primary and middle schools had set up stalls at the expo with fancy decorations and art pieces made by students. A group of six students from Jingbei Primary School in Bao’an demonstrated printmaking at the fair, attracting a large number of visitors. The stall was decorated to be a cozy and artistic area surrounded by students’ art entries. One of the students, known as Hu Ziqin, elaborated thoroughly on the procedures she used to create a print. “In printmaking, to draw well is typically an important step. After that is to engrave. While engraving, one has to be sure about what the image will look like after the whole process,” said Hu while demonstrating. Hu has been studying printmaking for three years. She joined the school’s after-school printmaking club. After learning the skill for three years, Hu said that she had learned to be patient and responsible for her works. Like Hu, dozens of primary students were immersed in making their handcrafts at the exhibition, turning an expo filled with cutting-edge technologies into a fun and creative one. An art teacher, surnamed Sun, from Bao’an Experimental School brought a group of her students to display entries they had made out of reused paper, petals and leaves. The used paper and plants were remade into various kinds of handcrafts, like lamps and notebooks. “All of the materials we use come from nature,” a student named Wen Zhiyi told Shenzhen Daily while proudly showcasing a lamp she had made at the school’s exhibiting area. Sun said that her students were keen on using recycled materials to make handcrafts. Apart from the handcrafts booths at the expo, students from various schools in Bao’an also gave performances, including choir, wind orchestra and storytelling for the visitors. |
