The Shenzhen Human Resources and Social Security Bureau recently announced the latest measures to encourage more graduates to find jobs through various employment channels by issuing an allowance for Shenzhen graduates who meet certain criteria. The allowance only applies to graduates who have just finished their degrees. According to the bureau, graduates who have just finished university can receive a 2,000 yuan (US$301) allowance if they find jobs at small or medium-sized enterprises. The SMEs can also receive 1,000 yuan for hiring the recently graduated jobseekers. Additionally, human resources service agencies that offer unemployed graduates free services, such as introducing vocational choices, to help them find their first jobs can receive an allowance of 500 yuan for each person they help. A staff member from the bureau said that students who find it difficult to find jobs or start businesses can apply for an allowance of 1,500 yuan from their universities or colleges. This policy also applies to disabled graduates, graduates from needy families and students who have received state-subsidized student loans for their education. (Zhang Qian, Zeng Ruijia) |
