The battle of Fort de Guerre (I)
    2016-08-03  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Once upon a time, there was a dark knight by the name of Scar, who hovered over Fort de Guerre. Day by day he expanded his territory, and his army swarmed the earth. Wherever his army went, pain and toil followed, and the earth was filled with horror and dread.

All the nations formed an alliance, and they selected General Penton, the Sovereign Lord of the Americas, to be the commander of the human alliance army. There was a myth spreading among the people: All the warriors of Scar were his phantoms, and once the dark knight was destroyed, his army would fade away like the wind. There were millions of Scar’s warriors on the face of the earth, which were impossible for the human force to destroy. In fact, Scar’s army was invincible; because his warriors were all phantoms, they could not be hurt, captured or stopped. The only way to victory was to invade Fort de Guerre and kill the dark knight himself.

Bearing the hope of many, Lord Penton took his elite army with him and set off to complete the quest that was called “Mission Impossible.” For days and nights the troops marched; they marched with incredible speed. On their perilous route, the human army faced threats from the enemy, who hid in the woods and in the rivers. The enemy attacked swiftly and surprisingly, claiming the lives of many. Finally, after 100 days of marching, the army arrived at the foot of Fort de Guerre.

Lord Penton mounted his white horse and went to the top of a nearby mountain to inspect the dreadful castle. In the middle of the castle stood a high tower, above which was a dark figure surrounded by a ring of fire from Hell. It was the dark knight. Lord Penton also saw Scar’s warriors guarding the gates of the castle. “Nobody can go into the castle through these gates, and nobody can lay siege to it,” Lord Penton said to himself.

He sank deep into thought, trying to come up with a strategy. In fact, he had been through numerous battles, but there had never been one as vicious as this would be.

Suddenly he was awakened by the sound of a trumpet from below — it was a battle call. The gates flung open and Scar’s phantoms dashed out on horses’ skeletons. They raised their halberds and began the slaughter. They had a commander behind them who gave them all power. The smell of human blood was sent up to the top of the mountain, all the way into Lord Penton’s nostrils. The wailing of his men echoed in the valley. The human army was routed, but Lord Penton was to the rescue. With eyes like those of an eagle, Lord Penton recognized the commander and sent him a flying arrow. The arrow pierced his forehead, and the commander drifted away like smoke. The enemy’s charge failed, and thousands of lives were saved.
