Hotels win award for Eco-friendly buildings
    2016-08-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

JW Marriott Hotel Shenzhen Bao’an and Hua Residence in Qianhai both won the LEED Award recently.

The award, called the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Award, was given out by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

The LEED, put forward in 2003, was deemed as the most influential award concerning green buildings.

The two winners made efforts in environmental protection, by putting into use appliances like energy-efficient LED lights, solar water heaters, carbon dioxide monitors, and also by building green walls, swimming pools and man-made lakes.

In compliance to LEED construction standards, both the hotel and the residence cost eight to nine percent less, regarding daily operations. Their carbon dioxide emissions are 33 to 39 percent lower than the average.

The JW Marriott Hotel Shenzhen Bao’an also promotes low-carbon services, such as outdoor weddings, low-calorie and organic dining, yoga and morning jogging.

JW Marriott Hotel Shenzhen Bao’an is the first international luxury hotel to come to the Qianhai area. It was co-designed by the renowned architect John Portman and the prestigious Singaporean interior design firm H.B.A. Adjacent to it lies the Hua Residence, the first luxury and hotel-styled residential compound up for sale in the city.
