City’s first cadet school campsite settles in Dapeng
    2016-08-31  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

The city’s first cadet school camping trip was held at the Dapeng Yacht Club over the weekend with 32 teenagers joining the two-day training camp, Daily Sunshine reported.

The camping trip was sponsored by a local charity foundation with the support of Communist Youth League Shenzhen Municipal Committee as well as the Dapeng Yacht Club.

The 32 teenagers outshone hundreds of their counterparts in registering for the camp and became the first batch of kids to experience the cadet school camping trip.

A few experts in the field set up an array of outdoor activities, including a 10km orienteering trek, a tent building exercise, canoeing and more.

The purpose of the activities was to help them acquire basic outdoor survival skills, as well as to strength their physical performance.

Shen Yucheng was one of the members of the camp.

“The trek was the longest distance I’ve ever walked in my life and I thought canoeing was a lot of fun,” said the boy when asked about the experience.

Another participant Zhang Wenqiu said it was her first time sleeping in a tent and she even got up early to see the sun rise over the ocean.

“My daughter had talked excitedly for hours about this weekend camp and we think the activities really gave the children an opportunity to experience the outdoors,” said Zhang’s mother.
