    ‘Game of Thrones’ breaks record with 12 wins

    “Game of Thrones” has broken the record for the highest number of Emmy Awards won by any show.

    The HBO fantasy drama triumphed in 12 categories, including outstanding drama series, taking its all-time Emmy total to 38.

    

    Jay Z calls war on drugs a ‘fail’

    Jay Z’s book, “Decoded,” set the project in motion when the social agency he works with, Revolve Impact, sought to tackle the contradictions presented in Michelle Alexander’s 2014 book, “The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness,” by illustrating the effect the war on drugs has had in African-American communities.

    

    Pop bands to rock theme park

    A three-day pop music extravaganza featuring 27 pop bands as well as singers and DJs will rock a theme park at the foot of Luofu Mountain in the neighboring Huizhou city during the National Day holiday.

    

    ‘La La Land’ musical takes top prize at Toronto film festival

    “La La Land,” a musical tale of star-crossed lovers chasing their dreams in Hollywood, won the top prize at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday.

 

    Amanda Plummer honored in Oldenburg

    The actress was the recipient of an honorary award at Oldenburg International Film Festival for her body of work — which was celebrated with screenings of “Pulp Fiction,” “The Fisher King” and “Butterfly Kiss.” (SD-Agencies)
