Snapchat sunglasses have built-in video camera
    2016-09-28  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A new range of sunglasses which can film 10-second video clips and upload them straight to picture messaging app Snapchat is set to be released by the end of the year.

The new gadgets will transfer the clips via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Makers of the glasses, simply called Spectacles, say they will create video which is akin to* human vision because the lenses have an angle of 115 degrees.

Chief executive Evan Spiegel said: “We’re going to take a slow approach to rolling them out. It’s about us figuring out if it fits into people’s lives and seeing how they like it.” He said he had tested a prototype* while on holiday with his supermodel fiancee Miranda Kerr in California.

“We were walking through the woods, stepping over logs, looking up at the beautiful trees. And when I got the footage back and watched it, I could see my own memory, through my own eyes — it was unbelievable. It’s one thing to see images of an experience you had, but it’s another thing to have an experience of the experience. It was the closest I’d ever come to feeling like I was there again.”

Earlier this year Snapchat introduced a range of new filters, called Lenses, that add masks, drawings and other features onto selfies*.
