A new hi-tech gadget claims to be able to create a “bubble” of noise canceling sound that is automatically customized to your bedroom to give a perfect night’s sleep. The US$249 Nightingale contains two speakers, and a choice of 15 different noises it uses to create a “blanket” over a bed to protect sleepers, masking outside noises that could disrupt sleep. Unlike current white noise machines, Nightingale sound blankets take into account your room’s architecture including whether you have wood floors or carpet and so on. “They even utilize* the walls to reflect sound blankets into the space from two different units, each with two speakers,” the firm says. “This creates a uniform and even coverage and means the brain can’t perceive where the sound is coming from, making it blend into the background.” Nightingale can also play different nature sounds to help ease you to sleep.
