Shenzhen Technical University has signed a cooperative deal with Shenzhen Metro Group on Monday to jointly set up a School of Transportation and Logistics in the university, SZTV News reported. According to the report, the establishment of the school is to cultivate talent for the city’s logistics departments. “During the preliminary stages, the university will negotiate with the metro group on the design of the courses, the size of the school and the number of enrolled students,” said Ruan Shuangchen, the director of the university’s preparatory office. As the city is expanding rapidly, Shenzhen is entering into a decade of fast growth for rail transport. It is estimated that the city will need around 10,000 professionals working in rail transport by 2020. “Through cooperation with Shenzhen Technical University, we hope to prepare more professionals for work in transportation and logistics to help meet urgent demands,” said Li Xiaozhu, the deputy Party chief of Shenzhen Metro Group. The two partners will also set up laboratories and an engineering center to carry out research on tackling essential traffic problems in Shenzhen. (Zhang Qian) |
