CGPI philanthropy seminar held in Qianhai

China Global Philanthropy Institute (CGPI) held a philanthropy seminar at Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub on November 19.

The seminar was given by Michael Norton, the founder of the Directory of Social Change. Norton, occasionally called the “idea merchant,” pointed out that charity has gradually developed into social entrepreneurship.

Social entrepreneurship is not only about setting up a business but also about changing our society and lives. He encouraged the audience to stop complaining about the world and start doing something now.

Several members of the audience, who worked in philanthropy in Shenzhen, shared their experiences, particularly challenges, in implementing their projects.

Norton suggested that they re-think the technical, financial and social dimensions of their projects and most importantly, not give up easily.
