SZ teachers develop free study app for international education
    2016-12-07  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A group of teachers from Shenzhen College of International Education (SCIE), based on years of teaching experience, created a mobile app called courseMo for international education. The app gives students free access to 27 subjects from IGCSE, A Levels to APs.

In the app, SCIE-based teaching materials include chapter summaries, topical revision notes, topical vocabulary cards, classified past-paper questions, PPTs, and customized tutorials for all 27 subjects.

The whole study process, from preview to end review, can be done in the app.

Asked what was the reason for creating an app like this, the teachers expressed that after years of helping Chinese students complete international courses and get into universities abroad, the teachers found out that the way Chinese students absorb knowledge is different from the way foreign students do.

Therefore, normal study materials for international courses may not work best with Chinese students.

“The material summarized by experienced Chinese teachers would help students get better results on the exam because it’s made by people who understand Chinese students better,” said Sunny Li, one of the co-founders. “With the help of the app, we hope we could make international education accessible to all.”

The study app’s online Q&A section, on which students can post their questions and get responses, breaks the time and geographical barriers for finding a teacher. Student users would be able to reach teachers all around the world easily as long as they both are app users.
