Research shows that just a 10-to-20-minute snooze can boost your alertness, productivity, and mood but any longer and you will wake up feeling groggy*. Now, a Chinese startup has designed a smart eyeshade that uses sensors to detect your brain activity in order to wake you up before you fall into a deep sleep. Called Naptime, this memory foam eye mask blocks out light 360 degrees around, while digital headphones play music from your smartphone that matches your brainwaves and mood. Entertech, based in Hangzhou, has designed a new device that wakes wearers up at the ideal time. “Naptime helps you time your naps perfectly,” the firm shares in an Indiegogo campaign. “It uses EEG* readings of your brain activity to wake you up during your light sleep phase instead of deep sleep, so that you feel awake and ready to tackle the rest of the day.” The smart eyeshade is constructed of memory foam with billions of temperature-sensitive particles that fit the contours of your face. It also leaves space for your eyes, unlike the traditional eye masks, so you will not feel any pressure while wearing it. The interior is lined with breathable fabric and the exterior, made of leather. What makes this mask smart is its EEG electrodes that monitor your brain waves. This data is used to decide what music will fit your mood and when you should wake up. In the lining of the mask sits electrically conductive silver fabric that is able to detect your brain’s electrical signals. The data is transferred through the firm’s EEG algorithm* chip and then to Naptime’s accompanied app, which deciphers what music to play based on your current mood. Consumers will receive on Naptime smart eyeshade for a US$139 pledge, which can be shipped anywhere in the world.(SD-Agencies) |
