Get your sunglasses at the ready. Alcatel has revealed a new smartphone that is covered in LEDs.

    The Alcatel A5 LED was unveiled this week at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

    The lights illuminate* when you get a notification, displaying different colors to distinguish between incoming calls, messages, alarms and social media alerts.

    William Dowie, portfolio management director at Alcatel said: “With the innovative A5 LED, Alcatel is delivering new fun features, like light-up notifications and unique LED cover patterns and themes you can create yourself, as well as an enhanced multimedia experience. It is ideal for people who value having fun and letting their personality shine.”

    The LED lights have a range of uses. When you receive a notification, the phone will glow with different colored lights, depending on the type of notification.

    The Color Catcher feature also allows you to create unique LED cover patterns and themes for a different look every day. You can sync your music with the lights, making the LEDs move in patterns to match the rhythm.

    The phone also has other helpful features, including 4G LTE connectivity, and an octa-core processor* that ensures games, photos and films all load smoothly onto the 5.2-inch HD display. A front 5MP camera comes with flash to illuminate selfies, even in low light.

    The phone also comes with Face Beauty software for editing images, and Face Show, which lets you turn your selfies into personalized video clips. There is also an 8MP rear camera with dual-tone flash.

    The A5 LED will be available from May onwards for US$210 and comes in metallic black or metallic silver.(SD-Agencies)
