Pie Tops lets you order a slice with a click of the ankles
    2017-03-08  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Fancy being able to summon a takeaway pizza with just a click of your ankles?

You might want to get your hands on some Pie Tops, a bizarre new line of smart shoes from Pizza Hut. The company has released 64 pairs of limited edition trainers that come complete with a button for ordering pizza.

The smart shoes use geolocation* to connect their owner to their closest Pizza Hut branch and link up to an app to send through a predesignated order.

Pizza Hut’s Pie Tops were hand-stitched by Dominic Chambrone, also known as the Shoe Surgeon, and will only be given out to people considered to be influencers.

The shoes are released to coincide with the annual NCAA basketball tournament in the United States. Only 64 pairs of trainers have been released to match the 64-team field in the game.

Retired basketball player Grant Hill was the first to get his hands on a pair.

In an advert for the shoes, he said: “There comes a time when the hard way is the only way. Ordering Pizza Hut is not that time. When I want to order a large pizza from Pizza Hut, I can order from my Pizza Hut Pie Tops. Easy as pie.”

A spokesperson for the company said: “These 64 pairs are handmade, and pretty cool.”(SD-Agencies)
