Over the weekend, Sean Lennon, son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, shared a new song he co-penned with late actress Carrie Fisher. In a statement on his Soundcloud page, Lennon revealed that “Bird Song” — a piano-led ballad* about “staying up too late and hearing the birds sing” — was recorded after the “Star Wars” heroine* passed last December. “When she died I just felt I had to record it,” Lennon explained. “The lyrics she wrote with me I think are marvelous. Carrie and I used to stay up till dawn chatting and pontificating* about life.” The serene* tune also features the vocals of Willow Smith, who was referred to by Lennon as a “prodigal* angel.” The underground star revealed that the current version is an unmixed demo*, and was recorded in only a few hours.
