17 miners dead

    RESCUERS found bodies of 17 miners who had been trapped underground after a coal mine accident in Northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province on Thursday, local authorities said yesterday.

    New H7N9 cases

    FOUR more human infections of H7N9 bird flu have been reported in east China’s Jiangxi Province, including one fatality, local health authorities said yesterday.

    The new cases brought the number of infections in the province this year to 36 and fatalities to 12.

    Woman arrested

    A MYANMAR woman in Southwest China’s Yunnan Province has been detained on suspicion of transporting drugs, according to local police yesterday. Police in Changning County said they confiscated 4.026 kg of heroin from the woman.
