A San Francisco startup* has revealed a house which was built in just 24 hours. Apis Cor unveiled a 37-square-meter house in a town outside of Moscow, Russia, which was constructed using a mobile 3D printer. The entire project was done in a single day and amounted to US$10,134. Construction took place in December 2016, when temperatures were just -35°C. “Design of the single-story residential house is rather unusual,” Apis Cors stated in a blog post. “This project was selected specifically, as one of the main purposes of this construction is to demonstrate the flexibility of equipment and diversity of available forms. The house can be of any shape, including the familiar square shape, because the additive technology has no restrictions on design of new buildings, except for the laws of physics.” The house’s wall, partitions* and building envelope* were all printed with a concrete mixture. Human workers then stepped in to paint the walls and install the roof, windows, wiring, hydro-acoustic and thermal insulation. Inside of the house is a hall, a bathroom, a living room and a compact full kitchen “with the most modern appliances from Samsung.”(SD-Agencies) |
