We put on a wonderful theater rendition of “Beauty and the Beast” in our school’s New Year Gala, which gained a lot of appreciation from not only the students but also teachers. I acted as Belle’s mother in this play. Belle’s mother is actually a lovely and generous mother, compared with the evil stepmother in “Cinderella.” Although this role is not more important than the others, I still learned a lot from this experience. As vice monitor in this class, I observed others’ acting skills when they were acting and thought about how to improve every role’s acting in this play. I analyzed this play and understood every player’s feelings and moods profoundly. As a student, I was honored to attend this activity that taught me how to act. Thanks to this English play, I certainly improved my English especially my oral English and acting skills. From this experience, I learned how to be a good actress thanks to my teacher. First, I should love the role I play, and make myself engaged in it and be the role in the play. I felt as I’m the mother who loves her daughter very much, I need to try my best to stop Belle from meeting the beast. So that was what I was truly thinking when I was acting in the gala, so I nearly cried when I said, “ No, Belle, you can’t go by yourself. It is so dangerous!” I believe that every actor in this play had this thought during the play. |
