    1. Prosecutors to seek arrest of Park

South Korean prosecutors sought an arrest warrant* on Monday for ousted* president Park Geun-hye, they said, days after questioning her over the corruption and abuse of power scandal that brought her down.

Park, 65, had her removal from office confirmed by the country’s top court earlier this month, ending her executive immunity*.

The former president is accused of multiple offenses including bribery, leaking government information, and abuse of power in the scandal.

    2. Bangladesh bomb blasts kill 3

At least three people, including a policeman, were killed and scores wounded in two separate bomb blasts on Saturday near a militant hideout* that was raided by commandos* in northeastern Bangladesh, police said.

The explosions in the Sylhet district came a day after a suicide bomber blew himself up at a security checkpoint near the country’s main airport in an attack claimed by Islamic State.

Two people were killed and more than 30 injured in one of the blasts near the hideout and a policemen died in the second in front of the building, police official Rokon Uddin said.

    3. Japanese PM denies wrongdoings

Facing what is possibly the biggest threat to his administration ever, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Friday denied the influence-peddling* allegations made in sworn testimony on Thursday by the head of a nationalist* school firm.

Yasunori Kagoike, head of Osaka-based Moritomo Gakuen, alleged in Diet testimony that the name of first lady Akie Abe may have been instrumental* in making a cut-price land deal possible and repeated claims that she donated 1 million yen (US$9,009) in person to the school in the prime minister’s name.

    4. Trump blames far right for bill collapse

U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday attacked conservative lawmakers for the failure of the Republican bill to replace former President Barack Obama’s health care law.

On Twitter, Trump complained: “Democrats are smiling in D.C. that the Freedom Caucus*, with the help of Club For Growth and Heritage, have saved Planned Parenthood & Ocare!”

The Freedom Caucus is a hard-right group of more than 30 GOP House members who were largely responsible for blocking the bill to undo the Affordable Care Act, or “Obamacare.”

    5. US admits strike killed civilians

The U.S. military acknowledged* for the first time on Saturday that it launched an airstrike against the Islamic State in the densely packed Iraqi city of Mosul where residents say more than 100 people were killed.

“An initial review of strike data … indicates that, at the request of the Iraqi security forces, the Coalition struck ISIS fighters and equipment, March 17, in west Mosul at the location corresponding to allegations of civilian casualties,” the task force leading the coalition said.

    6. Seven arrests over London’s terror attack

Police investigating the deadliest terror attack in central London in 12 years have arrested seven people, Britain’s most senior counterterror* police officer said on Thursday.

The victims included a police officer protecting Parliament, a woman in her mid-40s and a man in his mid-50s, Mark Rowley said. The attacker, who rammed* a car into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge before attempting to storm the Houses of Parliament, was also shot dead at the scene. Twenty-nine people were treated at the hospital.
