Sky rolls out voice-control TV remoter
    2017-03-29  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    天空卫视推出声控遥控器

Sky TV viewers can now search for TV programs and films using just their voice.

The latest Sky Q remote comes with a voice button linked to a microphone that users can speak into to search for content.

The new software can search for shows by title, actor, genre* or star rating.

The voice recognition technology picks up on phrases such as “action movies with Tom Cruise” and “kids movies rated U” to find personalized* content.

“You can search for shows by specifying title, actor, genre or even star rating,” a spokesperson for Sky said. “For the launch of voice search we’ve hidden a selected range of popular movie quotes in the service for customers to find. TV buffs can simply press and hold the voice button on the side of the Sky Q touch remote and speak clearly and naturally into it to search and discover. To find out which quotes are recognized just press and hold the voice button and say the movie quote.”

Amazon also added a voice assistant that can search for films on its latest fire stick. (SD-Agencies)
