Middle school and university join hands to build innovation lab

Shenzhen Middle School and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen signed a cooperation agreement to jointly build an Intelligent Robots Innovation Laboratory and an Elite Student Source for Chinese University of Hong Kong on May 4. The two sides will also deepen their cooperation in fostering talents, according to the agreement.

The innovation lab will be a unique collaboration designed to foster technological talents with global perspectives, innovative capabilities and practical abilities. It will also serve as a professional model platform for educational practice which integrates advanced science and technology, education and teaching.

The agreement states that The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen will support Shenzhen Middle School by dispatching professionals and offering suggestions on equipment purchase. To broaden students’ horizons, the university will arrange lectures to expose students to the information about the cutting-edge science and technology as well as other academic fields. It will organize competitions to stimulate students’ interests in studying and cultivate their innovation capabilities.

Besides, the university will also ask teachers to take training courses on topics including robots in order to improve the innovation and practical abilities of the middle school teachers. The university will provide students with opportunities to meet and engage with other research and learning institutes and bases for comprehensive social practice.

All these efforts are made to foster high-caliber innovation talents with global perspectives for Shenzhen Middle School.

In return, Shenzhen Middle School will recommend excellent students to the university and to help with its enrollment by publicizing the university.

The Elite Student Source for The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen was unveiled on the same day to jointly foster the next-generation innovative talents with international vision, professional ability and integrity as well as responsibilities for the society.

The two sides will conduct exchanges and cooperation in carrying forward traditional Chinese culture, organizing public science lectures and broadening students’ global perspectives. Exchanges between faculties and students of the two schools will also be increased to share quality educational resources.

Xu Yangsheng, president of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, delivered an academic report on intelligent robots for teachers and students from Shenzhen Middle School that day.

To build itself into an“Outstanding School with International Competitiveness,” Shenzhen Middle School has established 11 innovation experience centers and two theme innovation labs in collaboration with renowned universities, enterprises and public institutions.
