38 teachers to support education in Jiangxi and Guizhou provinces
    2017-07-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

38名“蓝粉笔”教师奔赴赣黔支教

A total of 38 teachers, education experts and headmasters of famous schools from all over the country traveled in two batches from July 10 to 13 and from July 17 to 20, to Yudu County, Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province and Leishan County, southeast Guizhou Province to offer training lectures to around 5,000 teachers in the areas.

These 38 teachers are volunteers from the charity campaign “Blue Chalk,” which was initiated by AVIC INTL Charity Fund.

“We offer practical lectures in the simplest of ways,” Xue Qiang, a retiree from Futian District Institute of Education and Scientific Research who has been participating in “Blue Chalk” for eight years now. Xue added that before he joined “Blue Chalk,” he had exchanged views on teaching with teachers from the countryside and got the general picture of teaching methods used in less developed regions, so he knew what topics to tackle.

Like Xue, there are four other teachers, namely Xiong Jinshen, Xiong Guanheng, Zhuang Li and Lin Xuerong, who also have eight years of experience in volunteering with “Blue Chalk.” Many of the teachers said joining the charity campaign was a good way for them to grow and improve themselves. They hoped that they could work with their counterparts in other regions to promote education.

“Blue Chalk” is a charity campaign organized by AVIC INTL Charity Fund and supported by Shenzhen Charity Federation, Shenzhen Project Care Organizing Committee Office, the Education Bureau of Futian District and the Education Committee of Chaoyang District of Beijing.

The campaign aims to recruit high-caliber teachers as volunteers to offer training lectures for teachers in primary and secondary schools in less developed regions, so as to boost the development of education in local areas.

Since the project was launched, it has recruited more than 210 teachers who have lectured nearly 20,000 teachers from more than 6,500 primary and secondary schools in provinces including Sichuan, Guizou, Jiangxi and Jilin.
