With the era of Anthropocene (about 10,000 years before present), humans have emerged as the dominant selective force for other organisms on our planet. This provides unparalleled opportunities for evolutionary biologists to study evolution in action. Loren Rieseberg is a University Killam professor and Canada Research Chair in Plant Evolutionary Genomics at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. He currently serves as president-elect of the Botanical Society of America.
