Bao’an developing intelligent equipment manufacturing
    2017-07-27  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

BAO’AN is stepping up efforts to boost high-end and intelligent equipment manufacturing, implementing the Made in China 2025 strategy proposed by the State Council.

The intelligent equipment manufacturing sector has been identified as a major player in the district’s development plans. With the ever-increasing demand from domestic consumers, China has seen rapid development in smart wearables in recent years, especially centered in Shenzhen, where most of the Chinese wearables are made. As an industrial center famous for having a high concentration of electronics factories, Bao’an has more than 200 companies in the smart wearable industry. The output of smart wearables in Bao’an accounts for 60 percent of Shenzhen with more than 10 companies that have a yearly output of 20 million yuan (US$2.96 million).

Bao’an also has been putting a particular focus on the robotics industry. The district has over 100 robotic manufacturing companies, including 20 companies with yearly outputs surpassing 10 million. Seven companies, such as China United Smart Technology Co. and Shenzhen JT Automation Equipment Co., have a yearly output surpassing 100 million yuan each. The output value of robots made by Bao’an-based firms accounts for 40 percent of Shenzhen’s total, according to Bao’an Robotics Industry Innovation Alliance.

Strong government support is enabling the district to make sustainable developments in robotics and intelligent equipment. Robotics, drone and intelligent equipment companies which have a minimum of 30 employees (including at least 10 percent R&D staff) and a yearly revenue of 20 million yuan can apply for a support fund worth 200,000 yuan from the district. The companies are also encouraged to go public and the district government will support their efforts to find financing. (Cao Zhen)
