Tesla rolls out ‘tiny house’
    2017-08-16  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Tesla is roadtripping around Australia in a tiny house to show off its latest energy products.

The company unveiled the Tesla Tiny House and its plan to tow it around with a Tesla Model X this week.

The house is powered by 100 percent renewable energy* via Tesla solar panels and Powerwall, the company’s solution for storing solar energy.

“The tour is designed to provide a one-on-one educational experience on how to integrate Powerwall and solar to seamlessly power an entire home 24/7, allowing Australian consumers to gain control and understanding of their power use,” the company said.

Inside the house is a mobile Tesla design studio that will enable customers to configure Solar Plus energy storage for their home — it’s reminiscent of a similar design studio the company hosted last year, in which it let customers design their own Tesla cars.

The tiny house — which weighs 2 tons and is 6m x 2.2m x 4m — is made from locally sourced sustainable* lumber* and is powered with a Tesla Powerwall and a system of six solar panels.

The company is focusing on Australia because the country has the world’s highest per capita penetration of rooftop solar with 15 percent of households using solar for a total of 1.5 million households across the country.
