Is J Balvin’s ‘Mi Gente’ the new ‘Despacito?’

Earlier this summer, Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito” became the most-streamed song of all time — an incredible feat for a record that’s predominantly in Spanish.

But another Latin American song, “Mi Gente,” has replaced “Despacito” at the top of Spotify’s Global Top 50. In the U.K., it’s just broken into the top 20.

Chinese documentary wins Golden Leopard

Chinese documentary filmmaker Wang Bing won the Locarno Festival’s Golden Leopard prize with his new film “Mrs. Fang.” The jury, led by Olivier Assayas, awarded the festival’s top prize to Wang, who is considered a leader in the current documentary film movement out of China.

‘This Is Us’ Season 2 returns

The tragedy looming over “This Is Us” will be revealed in Season 2: How doting family man Jack dies.

That’s according to Dan Fogelman, creator of NBC’s time-shifting hit drama series. He told a TV critics’ meeting that the answer will come during the show’s sophomore season, which begins on September 26.

‘Game of Thrones’ hackers demand ransom

Hackers who have leaked “Game of Thrones” scripts and other data from entertainment company HBO have released a note demanding a ransom payment.

Bruce Springsteen to perform a series of Broadway concerts

Bruce Springsteen is headed to Broadway for an eight-week solo theater run that he says will feature “just me, the guitar, the piano and the words and music.”
