This school year I attended an experimental course on effective English learning strategies. I have learned many effective strategies and enjoyed the class very much! To cultivate our comprehensive language capabilities, my teacher organized a reading presentation on the novel “Twilight.” My classmates and I were asked to speak on different aspects, focusing on our own perspectives and understandings of the book. We spared no efforts on the preparations, which were also a process of reviewing the book all over again, in which we accumulated a multitude of new words. For the part that I was responsible for, I made Powerpoint slides to show my classmates and teachers what I was going to introduce about the book. Making the slides was actually a hard process, which required me to do plenty of research on the Internet. When the presentation day finally came and after my classmates finished their parts, I went to the stage and started introducing the book. Firstly, I gave a brief introduction to the book. I said, “Written by Stephanie Meyer, it was a book that enjoyed a high reputation.” Next, I briefly talked about the characters and explained why “Twilight” was so popular. Last but not least, using my imagination, I made up a dialogue between two characters in the book according to the content. I invited one of my classmates to act as Bella while I acted as Charlie. We acted out the conversation nicely and emotionally. In the end, I won the applause of the classmates and teachers. In this class I learned a lot about this book from my classmates’ presentations. The class was very enjoyable and beneficial. I would definitely like to read the rest of the series and read more English novels. |
