南山中英文学校24名学生入选深圳博物馆小讲解员 Cao Zhen caozhen0806@126.com Twenty-four students from Nanshan Chinese International College (NCIC) in Baishizhou have been selected by Shenzhen Museum as student tour guides after four months of training. After passing an interview in February, the students received training in Shenzhen history, Cantonese folk culture, ancient relics and wild life before they were permitted to act as guides in the museum for July and August. “It’s a great opportunity for the students to develop public speaking skills and promote a spirit of volunteerism in the community. The students were very happy and satisfied when serving museum visitors,” said Lan Jinren, headmaster of NCIC. “In the past, I dare not speak publicly nor relax in front of strangers. But now after receiving the training, I not only feel easier communicating with people, but also know how to deliver accurate and immediate explanations simply by observing visitors as they spend time looking at exhibited items,” said Zhou Zirui, a student of NCIC. Since 2010, Shenzhen Museum has been training local student volunteers to give tours to the general public in an effort to attract more young visitors to the museum. Last year, the museum began to collaborate with NCIC to select student guides. |
