Relationship

CHINESE singer and actor Lu Han surprised fans by annoucing on his Weibo yesterday that he is in a relationship with actress Guan Xiaotong. Lu, 27, posted on the Twitter-like social media: “I’d like you all to meet my girlfriend@guanxiaotong.”

Lu, former member of South Korean-Chinese boy band EXO, went solo in October 2014. He released his debut album “Reloaded” in 2015 and has starred in several box office hits such as “20 Once Again” (2015), “The Witness” (2015) and “Time Raiders” (2016). Guan, 20, is known for her roles in films like “The Promise” and “The Left Ear.”

New film

CHARLIE PLUMMER, who will soon be seen in the Jean Paul Getty movie “All the Money in the World,” has joined A24’s untitled Pippa Bianco project.

The film, which A24 will distribute, is based on Bianco’s short film “Share,” which centered on a teenage girl whose life is torn apart after the release of a disturbing video at her small-town high school. The 11-minute short won prizes at both SXSW and Cannes.

Newcomer Rhianne Barreto is starring as Mandy in the feature version along with Plummer. Plummer will play a fellow high school student whose life is impacted by the leaked video.

Death

ROCKER Tom Petty died Oct. 2 after being rushed to a Los Angeles hospital, according to Tony Dimitriades, longtime manager of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers. Dimitriades confirmed Petty’s death on behalf of the performer’s family. He was 66.

Petty & the Heartbreakers first came to fame in the 1970s. It was both with that group and as a solo artist that Petty had a string of hits across the decades, including “Free Fallin’,” “American Girl” and “I Won’t Back Down.” Petty, along with the band, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
