3 student clubs obtain 900,000-yuan fund
    2017-10-18  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Three student clubs from Shenzhen No.2 Experimental School stood out from numerous middle and primary school student clubs in the city by earning the “Shenzhen Excellent Student Club” award, a special fund totaling 900,000 yuan, and making the school and its extra-curricular offerings the top-performing in Shenzhen.

On top of that, a total of 13 student project submissions from the school were selected, approved and successfully implemented after a fierce competition, also securing a special fund of 260,000 yuan towards the projects.

The three recognized student clubs are FABLAB Digital Workshop, Digital Astronomy Club and Art Design Club, each of which will obtain 100,000 yuan each year from 2018 to 2020, totaling 900,000 yuan.

According to an official from the student clubs of Shenzhen No.2 Experimental School, the three award-winning student clubs are excellent representatives of the school and reflect the overall attitude of the school towards student clubs.

In recent years, the school has diligently advocated for diversified development of practical extra-curricular programs that would effectively improve the overall quality of learning. The awards obtained this time will facilitate the betterment of the student clubs and the school, according to the official.

Shenzhen has been promoting research-based project topics for primary and secondary school students for three years now. As primary and secondary schools pay more and more attention to students’ independent scientific research, a total of 2,800 project topics have been received this year in Shenzhen, 600 of which were approved and set up, totaling an acceptance rate of 21 percent.

Shenzhen No.2 Experimental School applied for 48 project topics this year and 13 of them were approved and sponsored, equalling an acceptance rate of 30 percent. Each of the project topics will receive funding of 20,000 yuan.
