Why CPC is unique

THE ongoing 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) will come to a successful close tomorrow, marking China’s entry into a new stage of economic and social development.

Over the past five years, China has set to economic and social development, scientific and technological innovation, and poverty reduction at a galloping pace, putting the congress at the center of global attention. An unprecedented number of journalists and reporters from other countries and regions flocked to Beijing to cover the seven-day meeting of the world’s largest political party.

As usual, foreign media look at the CPC with mixed feelings. Those China bashers are blind to the CPC’s achievements not because they are mentally retarded, but because they hold deeply rooted prejudice against the CPC, maintaining that only the multi-party system works and the one-party system will never succeed.

However, the CPC has proved and will continue to prove that adopting and adhering to a political system that corresponds with the reality of China’s situation is in the fundamental interests of the Chinese people.

It is China’s unique cultural tradition, historical destiny, and national conditions that gave birth to the CPC.

Indeed, globally, political parties come in various types, but no other is like the CPC.

National conventions of Democrats and Republicans in the U.S. are more like hilarious carnivals than solemn meetings deliberating serious state affairs. The sessions are full of empty talks and rock music.

At its national congress held every five years, the CPC lays out national development goals for the coming years in a deliberate manner and commits extreme dedication to achieving the goals. It is in this down-to-earth manner that CPC has completely reshaped China.

The main, if not only, purpose and task of the parties under the multi-party system is fighting against the opposing rivals for ruling power. Therefore, they care more about their own gain and loss than about the interests of the majority of the population, to say nothing of the long-term interests of the nation. The so-called democracy has become vetocracy.

That’s why Trump can discard everything done by his predecessor Obama, including international treaties and commitments. Under Trump’s rule, the U.S. has gone virtually credit bankrupt.

That’s why Taiwan’s DPP can disrupt the normal interaction with the mainland that has lasted for decades.

As the sole ruling party, the CPC, keenly aware of the great responsibility on its shoulders, finds it imperative to work conscientiously on behalf of the nation and the people, allowing no major mistakes.

Realizing that it is a historic task calling for endeavor of several generations to revive the Chinese nation, the CPC has been working whole-heartedly on a century-long plan consisting of numerous periodical programs.

The CPC has proved itself to be a great learner and brave reformer. As a revolutionary party before 1949, it led the Chinese people in armed struggle against Japanese invaders and KMT’s rule and eventually won national independence. After the founding of the People’s Republic, the CPC quickly transformed itself into a qualified ruling party, which has successfully led the country in economic and social development. Since the adoption of the reform and opening-up policy, the CPC has been in successful transition into a modern political party capable of not only turning China into a world power, but also of playing a greater role in global affairs.

No matter how Western media portray the advantages of the multi-party system, its disadvantages and even fatal defects are getting increasingly evident over time, especially when compared with the extraordinary achievements obtained by China under the long-term leadership of the CPC.

It will take a long time for self-deceiving Westerners to unravel the secrets behind the China Miracle. They may never realize it until they take off their tinted glasses and set about studying, in an earnest manner, the real China.

If the CPC had attempted to duplicate Western models, it would be fair to predict that China would be stuck under the thumb of foreign powers, not to mention its legendary achievements today.
