Wolf Warrior F1 stands out at national battlefield
    2017-11-01  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Two Formula One (F1) teams, both from Nanhua Elementary School in Futian District, have come out on top among 28 competitors at the third Shenzhen Student Maker Carnival.

Established less than two years ago, the two rising stars, “Wolf Warrior F1” and “Lightning F1” have taken home two championship titles in the racing and knockout competitions, as well as won the second straight victory at the “F1 in Schools” Technology Challenge in Shenzhen.

“We’ll have to assume that the whole team is an F1 team and is participating in the world’s fastest F1 racing,” said Ni Yong, the coach and teacher behind the team. He added that every team has a team manager, manufacturing engineer, design engineer, graphics designer and resource manager. The team also needed to prepare a business plan and a budget plan and raise funds.

The car was designed and manufactured by the team only after test-running the car’s aerodynamics in a wind tunnel and promoting their final product for sponsorship. Apart from technical inspection and engineering judging, they also needed a representative to give a verbal presentation to the judge panel.

“We are grateful that the school has built such a platform and allowed us to take part in our favorite F1 racing in this way. I’ve learned so much from this experience,” said Sun Yafei, team leader of “Wolf Warrior F1,” which was named the “best team” at the national finals in July and was invited to compete at the world finals in Britain.
