It’s a debate that has been swirling among the tech community all week: Which cheeseburger emoji best represents the savory sandwich?

Now, Snapchat has waded into the debate with its own dancing burger character.

The Snapchat burger’s layers are (from bottom to top) bun, patty, cheese, tomato, patty, lettuce, bun, although not everyone seems convinced that this is the correct sequence*.

Snapchat has added a dancing burger as one of its augmented reality* lenses. Users can “place” the virtual* burger on different surfaces through the lens, changing its size and position as they like.

The burger emoji debate was sparked last week when Thomas Baekdal, an author from Denmark, tweeted a screenshot of Apple’s and Google’s respective* cheeseburger emojis pointing out the different cheese placements. He wrote: “I think we need to have a discussion about how Google’s burger emoji is placing the cheese underneath the burger, while Apple puts it on top.”

The viral* tweet caught the attention of Google CEO Sundar Pichai and he wrote in response: “We will drop everything else we are doing and address this on Monday. If folks can agree on the correct way to do this!”

Since then, thousands of people have joined the debate on Twitter. Google is the only tech company that offers a cheeseburger emoji with cheese below the patty. Apple, Facebook, Samsung and others all place the cheese on top. The general consensus* seems to be that Microsoft has got its emoji right, with the order of (from bottom to top) bun, patty, cheese, tomato, lettuce, bun.

Another netizen tweeted: “The burger emoji battle is fun, but let’s take a moment to point out that Microsoft is the only one that gets it completely right.” Then someone added: “Congratulations Microsoft for winning the Cheeseburger Emoji Battle!
