THE finale of the fourth “Project Aloft Star, Amplified by MTV” China edition competition was held at Aloft Dongguan Dynamic Town on Nov. 3. Hosted by avant-garde Aloft Hotels and global youth entertainment brand MTV, the competition saw Taiwanese electro duo band Chick en Chicks crowned as winner.

Spanning the eastern hemisphere and divided into three segments — the Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand) and Australia edition, the South Korea edition and the China edition — the competition identifies the hottest emerging musical talent throughout the aforementioned regions.

Now running for its fourth year, this year’s editions have proven so far to be the most successful ones yet, with broadcasts gaining popularity and reach with Australian and Indonesian audiences, as well as a 57 percent increase in entrants from China and a record high of 440,000 public votes.

The competition kicked off July 5. The winner Chick en Chicks performed along two other finalists at the Dongguan Aloft Hotel’s W XYZ Bar, impressing a panel of judges from Aloft, MTV and the music entertainment industry.

Chick en Chicks will receive mentorships from MTV and Believe Distribution Services, a Believe Distribution Services deal for marketing and distribution, and US$10,000 to support their road to success in the music industry.
