Bulky waste collection service available
    2018-01-17  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE city’s urban management bureau launched an official WeChat account Monday on which property management companies can make reservations for bulky waste collection service, according to sznews.com.

After a property management company registers with the WeChat account (WeChat ID: szljfenlei) launched by the bureau and makes a reservation, a waste collection company will service the residential estate within three days.

Currently the reservation service is only available for property management companies, rather than individuals. The bureau said it will launch other reservation services for collecting other kinds of garbage, such as festival plants, hazardous waste, metals and plastics.

Liu Rongjie, an officer with the city’s garbage classification management office, said 483 property management companies and 18 waste collection companies had registered with the platform as of Jan. 8. “The platform is also equipped with IoT and GPS technologies to enable real-time monitoring of waste collection trucks,” Liu said.

According to the bureau, 3,478 residential estates and urban villages in the city have set up bulky waste dumpsites. The property management companies usually call waste collection companies to collect the bulky waste on a regular basis.

Qiaoxiangcun housing estate in Futian District has set up a garbage classification and recycling center, which occupies 28 square meters. “The bulky waste collected in the estate each week can fill up a 25-ton truck,” said Zheng, a spokesperson for the estate’s property management company.

The service is part of a system the urban administration authority has formed for sorting used textiles, used potted flowers and plants, kitchen garbage, vegetable waste and poisonous waste during the implementation of the waste classification rule.
