Natalie Portman joins pop star drama ‘Vox Lux’
    2018-01-29  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

NATALIE PORTMAN has boarded the music drama “Vox Lux” from director Brady Corbet, taking on the lead role of Celeste, it was announced Friday.

Portman replaces Rooney Mara, who was earlier attached to play a pop star in Corbet’s 15-year odyssey that takes place from 1999 to the present as it tracks the rise of singer Celeste to superstardom. Jude Law is also attached as a lead.

Bold Films and Andrew Lauren Productions will finance and produce “Vox Lux.” Songwriter-singer Sia will provide original songs for the film’s soundtrack. “Vox Lux” will be shot in the 65mm format and will be screened in 70mm.

Start of production is set for Feb. 1 in New York City.

Portman is also in negotiations to star in “Pale Blue Dot,” an astronaut drama that Noah Hawley, the man behind the “Fargo” and “Legion” TV series, is directing for Fox Searchlight.

Nominated for an Oscar for her work in 2016’s “Jackie” and having won for 2010’s “Black Swan,” Portman next stars in “Annihilation,” Paramount and Skydance’s sci-fi thriller from Alex Garland.
