Part of Longhua greenway to open
    2018-02-06  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

PART of a long-anticipated greenway circulating around Longhua District will finally open to the public.

The 3-kilometer section of the Dashuikeng Greenway, stretching from Shenzhen No. 2 Foreign Languages School to Jiulong Mountain in Fucheng Subdistrict, will open before the start of the Spring Festival holidays and the remaining 10 kilometers of the greenway’s Dashuikeng section will open in May.

It is part of the western section of the 135-kilometer circular greenway to be completed by 2021.

Longhua started the construction of the circular greenway around the district in July last year. The project, one of the 10 livelihood improvement projects of 2017, was budget at 1 billion yuan (US$158.73 million).

The project includes 96 kilometers of newly built greenways and 39 kilometers of renovations on the existing greenways.

According to a plan released by the district’s urban administration bureau, the greenway will reach Guangming Forest Park in the north and go along the Guanglan River and its wetland park before entering the Mission Hills Golf Club, Guanlan Print Base and reaching Guanlan Wetland Park in the district’s west. It then goes southward by a cluster of parks at Zhang Kengjing Forest Park and a sightseeing section of Guanlan River. It passes Minzhi Subdistrict and links dozens of parks bordering with Futian and Luohu districts.

The greenway around Longhua will link seven forest parks, 40 urban parks, 14 reservoirs and 23 natural and cultural attractions, according to the plan.

In a similar development, Dapeng New Area will build an additional 50 kilometers of greenways this year, bringing the total length of greenways in the new areas to 200 kilometers. By 2020, a circular greenway of 400 kilometers will be formed around Dapeng Peninsula. (Han Ximin)
