Children lead the way of the Belt and Road at cultural festival
    2018-02-14  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Wearing classic ethnic garments and carrying the national flags and mascots of countries along the “Belt and Road” in-hand, first graders of the Foreign Language School of Xin’an Middle School represented countries including Kazakhstan, Turkey, Russia, Egypt and Afghanistan during the kick-off of the first International Cultural Festival.

Under the theme “Children Lead the Way on the Belt and Road,” the festival aimed to make students better understand the Belt and Road initiative, enhance their global vision and develop a sense of patriotism in children’s hearts.

Gao Miaotian, Party chief of Xin’an Middle School and headmaster of the school said that the festival can broaden children’s horizons and teach them about the cultures of the countries along the Belt and Road. Gao added that the festival served as an important platform for improving students’ overall knowledge and the success of it proved that the school’s curriculum is highly effective.

A parent told a reporter that the children are learning so much about folk culture and the exotic charm of different countries through games, improving students’ overall intelligence.

Hosted by Foreign Language School of Xin’an Middle School and supported by Hailong International Education and Innovation Research Institute, Peng Maofa, head of Education Science Institute of Bao’an District, Xu Hui, deputy head of Education and Development Center of Bao’an District as well as 47 foreign language teachers from across Bao’an District were in attendance at the festival.
