Kim stresses importance of warm relations
    2018-February-14  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

TOP leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un stressed Monday the importance of a thaw in relations between the two Koreas, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported yesterday.

“It is important to continue making good results by further livening up the warm climate of reconciliation and dialogue created by the strong desire and common will of the North and the South with the PyeongChang Winter Olympics as a momentum,” Kim said when he met the DPRK high-level delegation upon its return after a three-day visit to the South Korea.

Kim expressed satisfaction over the delegation’s work in the South, said the KCNA. Kim also thanked the South for paying special attention to the visiting DPRK delegation.

Members of the delegation include Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People’s Assembly and Kim Yo Jong, first vice director of the Central Committee of the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea and younger sister of the country’s leader.

Kim Yo Jong has delivered an invitation to South Korean President Moon Jae-in to visit Pyongyang.

Meanwhile, Moon said the United States had shown its willingness to talk with the DPRK, Moon’s spokesman said yesterday.

Kim Eui-kyeom, spokesman for Moon, told a press briefing that the president made the remarks during the summit meeting with Latvian President Raimonds Vejonis, who attended the opening ceremony of the 23rd Winter Olympics on Friday night.

The South Korean leader said the United States was seeing the talks between South Korea and the DPRK positively and that the U.S. side showed its intention to talk with the DPRK.
