Macron adopts a hen at Paris show
    2018-02-27  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

FRENCH President Emmanuel Macron took advantage of his long visit to the agricultural show in Paris on Saturday to adopt a chicken, which should be responsible for providing fresh eggs at the Elysee.

After flattering the muzzle of “Haute,” the cow’s muse of the living room, weighing a gray cheek and admiring the countless regional specialties brandished in its wake during his first visit to the salon as head of state, Macron was suddenly found with a beautiful red hen in the arms. He accepted it with a smile.

The hen was offered to him in front of the cameras by the director general of the Loué chickens in Sarthe, Yves de la Fouchardière.

“I take it, but we must find a system to protect the dog,” said Emmanuel Macron, a bit amused, evoking Nemo, the presidential labrador, adopted late August in a shelter of the Society for the protection of animals.

A recent press report in the newspaper Le Figaro had evoked the wish of his wife Brigitte Macron to build a kitchen garden at the Elysee, as Michelle Obama had done in the White House.

So, why not with a chicken in the garden?

“It’s very popular in the city,” said Johann Coenne, general commissioner of the fair of poultry in Paris, interviewed by AFP. “But it would take a cock too to balance,” he suggested.

The president has admitted that until now “it is the Ministry of the Interior” that “provides” the eggs at the Elysee. “They have chickens.”

“We’re going to do a henhouse at the Elysee!” he said.
