ALDON SMITH, who has derailed a promising U.S. National Football League (NFL) career with bad decisions and terrible off-field issues, has turned himself in to San Francisco police on domestic violence charges. ESPN reported Smith turned himself in Tuesday at 3:25 p.m. Eastern on charges of willful infliction of corporal injury, assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, false imprisonment and vandalism (less than US$400). He’s being held for US$30,000 bond. Smith was once one of the best players in football. He had 19.5 sacks for the San Francisco 49ers in 2012 and was named to the All-Pro team. Smith has played in just 27 games since due to various off-field issues and suspensions, and has missed each of the last two seasons due to suspension. The Oakland Raiders cut Smith after his latest incident, it doesn’t seem like the NFL has any reason to reinstate him. (SD-Agencies) |
