Road project progress

THE renovation of Guimiao Road, which started in 2016, will be completed before the end of the year.

The 4.9-km two-way six-lane underground section starts from Zhenhai Road in the Qianhai area and ends at Houhaibin Road in Nanshan District. The above-ground section will be two-way with eight lanes.

The renovation project of Shahe West Road, the 7.43-km road linking Binhai Boulevard in the south with Chaguang Road in the north, will be completed at the end of next year, the contractor said.

Succulent plants

HUANGGANG Customs caught an inbound traveler carrying 14 types of succulent plants.

The fist-sized plants were carefully wrapped and packed in the backpack of a Hong Kong man who crossed the border Feb. 28.

According to the man, the plants, which are rarely seen in China, were mailed to Hong Kong from foreign countries before he carried them to the mainland.

Succulents are becoming popular among plant lovers due to their succulent leaves, easy cultivation and cute appearance.
