Cut corners 走捷径

    2018-03-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A: Hey, let’s not cut corners on this project. It has to be done thoroughly, no matter how much it costs.

B: Why? I think what matters most now is saving time and money.

A: I don’t think so. If our client finds us cutting corners, they won’t trust us anymore. They will find out someday.

B: Fine. If you insist to do so, I’m afraid I can’t work with you. You can do whatever you like all by yourself.

Note: “Cut corners” means to do something in the easiest or least expensive way, sometimes by illegal acts. For example, cutting corners in a production leads to a definite loss in product quality, or if an accountant cuts corners the auditors are sure to find out. This term alludes to rounding a corner as closely as possible in order to shorten the distance traversed and/or save time.
